Jerry L. Stante, 76, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019 at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, IN. She was born on December 10, 1942 in South Bend, to Ira and Wilma (Kenna) Sloan, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 5, 1965 in South Bend, Jerry married Donald D. Stante, who survives. In addition to her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Jerry is survived by her daughter, Dr. Julie Lynn (Matthew) Stante-Diedrich of Indianapolis, IN; son, Darron David (Amy) Stante of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Rosario Stante, Hayden Diedrich, and Parker Stante.
Jerry’s favorite hobbies were talking on the telephone, filling her birdfeeders every morning, and throwing bread to birds and squirrels who came to her front door.
Jerry was employed as an oncology lab technician for South Bend Medical Foundation for 35 years. She attended Indiana University Bloomington.
To all who met Jerry—friends, family, patients, neighbors—she was a “ray of sunshine.”
Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Rev. Kevin Bauman will officiate. A chapel service will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
