SOUTH BEND – Karen Kay (Ackerman) Cooper, 73, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at Center for Hospice Care, Roseland.

Karen was born on August 19, 1945 in St. Joseph, Michigan to the late Robert Ackerman and Neva Pearl (Walter) Ackerman, and has been a lifelong resident of this area, graduating from New Troy High School, New Troy, Michigan. Karen cherished her role as a homemaker, enjoyed knitting, sewing, and working in her garden.

Karen was united in marriage in 1977 to Michael T. Cooper, who survives. She is also survived by her sister, Jean (Dean) Carol of Grapeland, Texas; brothers, Don Wolford of Eau Claire, Michigan, and Robert C. Ackerman of Niles, Michigan.

There are no services planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1733 W. Glendora Road, Buchanan, Michigan or to Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
