Larry Don Dokes

Larry D. Dokes, 64, was born to the union of J.C. and Edna Jean Dokes in Osceola, Arkansas on February 20,1954. He was called home to glory on October 7, 2018 at 11:10 a.m. at Cardinal Nursing Home in South Bend. 

Larry was a self-employed painter. His passions were fishing and barbecuing. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends. You could always count on Larry to share a story or a laugh. 

Larry leaves to cherish his memories three brothers: James (Barbara) Dokes, Ron (Glenda) Dokes and Eric (Yolanda) Dokes; five sisters: Gaynell Kilgore of Omaha, Nebraska, Joetta Wilson, Patricia Dokes, Toni Dokes and Arenda (Darnell) Murray; his life-long companion, Mary Madison and four children: Richard Madison, Rita Seams, Ronald Madison and Randall Madison; three special grandchildren: LaQuisha Markham, Derrick Madison and Timothy Madison; a special great-grandchild, C. Vannah Callicott; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends who will miss him deeply. 

Larry Dokes was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Edna Jean Dokes; two sisters: Sharon Dokes and Gail Binion; brother-in-law Obell Kilgore. 

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Dokes will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 2705 Marquette Blvd., South Bend, IN 46628. Visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Pastor Archie Shurn will officiate. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
