MISHAWAKA – Leonard D. Cousins, 88, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Leonard was born on March 28, 1931 in Perry, Michigan to the late George W. Cousins and Florence (Flare) Cousins, and has lived in the Mishawaka area since 1952, coming from Niles, Michigan.  Leonard attended Niles High School.  He worked at South Bend Lathe Company for many years, and later worked as a groundskeeper at Park Jefferson Apartments, retiring in 2007.

On July 9, 1952 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Buehler) Cousins, who has preceded him in death on August 28, 2006.  They celebrated 54 years of marriage together.  Leonard is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Singleton of Mishawaka; sons, Leonard (Karen) Cousins, Jr. and Paul Cousins, both of South Bend; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Along with his parents and wife, Leonard was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Greer and Lorraine Prytz; brothers, Frank Cousins and Jack Cousins; and good friend, Roy Swigart.

There are no services planned at this time.  Inurnment will take place at a late date at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Elizabeth.  Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
