Mary M. Aker

Mary M. Aker, 89 years old, passed away at 9:38 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Southfield Village, South Bend.  Mary was born on September 15, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Emilio and Mary (Cortassa) Beata.  She has lived most of her life in our local area.

Mary was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral.  She retired from Kroger’s as a cashier for over 20 years.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Colleen (Randy Chudzicki) Kelsick of South Bend and Deanna (Roger) Mann of Covina, CA; four grandchildren, Amy Troxel, Don (Irlanda) Troxel, Andrew Mann and Stephanie Mann; and three great grandchildren, Nadia, Samuel and Maya Troxel.  Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.  A private interment will take place at a later date.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5th, at the funeral home.
