Melissa A. (Prieve) Fleming

Melissa A. (Prieve) Fleming, 45, of South Bend, IN passed away at 3:20 a.m. Friday, November 30,2018 at the Center for Hospice.  She was born on November 17, 1973 in Wausau WI to Kenneth W. and Sharon (Bedish) Prieve.  On March 28, 2008 in South Bend, IN she was united in marriage to Terry E. Fleming, who survives.

Melissa is also survived by her daughters, Emma and Lindsay Fleming, both at home; her parents, Kenneth and Sharon Prieve; step-daughter, Ashley (David) Burnley of Phoenix, AZ; three step grandchildren; maternal grandparents, Maynard & Lucille Bedish of Eagle River, WI; mother-in-law, Leona M. Fleming of South Bend, IN; friend, Jennie (Steve) Bodine of South Bend, IN and other extended family members.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Loretta (Prieve) Lodholz ; brother, Andrew Prieve and father-in-law, John Fleming.

Melissa graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1992; graduated from NCTI as a police officer in 2008 and graduated from Southwestern Michigan College. She was a manager for Beacon Health Systems and prior to that she worked at St. Joseph Medical Center.  Melissa attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  She loved making maple syrup with her family and loved the Wisconsin woods.  Raising her children was the center of her universe. Melissa had a bigger than life personality, she was loyal and hard working.  The first in line to help someone in need.  Melissa will be dearly missed.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 E. Haney Avenue, South Bend, IN.  Rev. Jeff Zell will officiate.   Friends may visit with the family from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family.
