Mr. OC Coleman, 70, passed away peacefully during the early hours of Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Mr. Coleman was born on October 7, 1948 in Tchula, MS to Curtis and Mary (Doty) Coleman.
OC was a long-time South Bend resident, having lived in the area for over 40 years after moving from Mississippi. He was a loyal employee of Royal Adhesives and Sealants (formerly Uniroyal), retiring in 2015 after 40+ years of faithful service.
OC is survived by his loving daughters, Miyako Coleman of South Bend and Voncia Wilkins of Mishawaka; grandchildren Ci’Von Green and Laila Thomas, both of South Bend; great-grandchild Ciara Green of South Bend; sister Christeen Williams of Memphis, TN; brothers Perry Coleman of Memphis, TN and Jerry Coleman of Chicago, IL; Ambrose Coleman of Tchula, MS; ex-wife and caregiver Prophetess Jackie Kennedy-Coleman of Mishawaka and long-time caregiver Juanita Smith of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law Beverly Gilmore of South Bend; brother-in-law Gregory Williams of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as a host of extended family members and friends. OC is also survived by his grand-dog “Punkin”, who he affectionately referred to as “Old Mutty”. OC was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Coleman; brothers-in-law Charlie Gilmore and George Wilkins; and parents, Curtis and Mary.
OC loved to be around family and friends and enjoyed watching Sanford & Son. If he was missing you could find OC shopping at Martin’s Supermarket or Meijer.
A memorial service will be held in Mr. OC Coleman’s honor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628.
