Philip A. Wilmes

Barbara J. Wilmes, 80 and Philip A. Wilmes, 81, of South Bend, IN passed away at their home on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  Barbara was born on July 24, 1937 in South Bend, IN to the late Roman F. and Sylvia (Buczkowski) Korpal.   Philip was born on November 4, 1936 in South Bend, IN to the late Frank and Virginia (Fessler) Wilmes.  They were united in marriage on April 4, 1959 in South Bend, IN.

Barbara and Philip are survived by their children, Jeanne Swords of Detroit, MI. Andrew T. Wilmes of Indianapolis, IN. and Mark A. Wilmes of South Bend, IN. and 4 grandchildren, Olivia and Aaron Swords and Mitchell and Madelyn Wilmes. Barbara was also survived by two brothers, David (Natalie) Korpal and Jim (Lynne) Korpal, both of South Bend, IN and two nieces and two nephews.  Philip was also survived by his brother, David (Donna) Wilmes; one niece and two nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Wilmes.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of South Bend.  She graduated from Central High School and was the owner of Greene Electric retiring after thirty-five years.  Barbara was also a private pilot, paralegal, and master gardener.

Philip was a lifelong resident of South Bend and a graduate of Riley High School.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army.  Philip was an electrician for IBEW, retiring after thirty-five years of service. 

There will be no services or visitation.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family.  They will be inurned at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
