Robert L. Zellers

Robert L. Zellers, 79 years old, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the Briarcliff Health and Rehabilitation, South Bend.  Mr. Zellers was born on April 8, 1939 in Rochester, IN to the late Glen and Janice (Dennis) Zellers.  He has lived locally most of his life.  On March 22, 1964 in North Liberty, Robert and Vera M. Ross where united in marriage.

Along with his loving wife of 54 years, Vera, survivors include their three children, Todd L. (Teresa) Zellers of Walkerton, Tammy L. (Ricci Moore) Schuman of Lakeville, and Tricia L. Zellers of North Liberty; and four grandchildren, Tara Zellers, Christian Porter, Hunter Schuman, and Kaylee Porter.  Along with his parents, Mr. Zellers was preceded in death by his four brothers, Glen Jr., Don, Richard and Dean Zellers. 

Mr. Zellers retired in 1999 from A.M. General where he was employed for thirty years.  Prior to A.M. General, he worked at Wells Aluminum.  He was a former little league coach, enjoyed bowling in a league, and volunteered on the Liberty Township Board.  e   

He was also an avid sports fan and found joy in raising many animals over the years.  Mr. Zellers looked forward to Saturday morning breakfasts with his cousins.  Most importantly, he enjoyed attending anything that his grandchildren were involved in and spending time with them.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the North Liberty Church of Christ, 65225 State Road 23, North Liberty, IN.  Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the North Liberty Church of Christ, as well as, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.  Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty is assisting the family.
