MISHAWAKA – Ronald Alvin Gongwer, Jr., 54, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his home. Ronald was born on June 1, 1964 in South Bend, Indiana to Ronald Alvin Gongwer, Sr. and Phyllis Jean (Donie) Gongwer.
Ronald is survived by his loving mother, Phyllis Jean Gongwer,of Ft Myers, FL, sisters, Margaret Gongwer of Ft. Myers and Linda (Jeff) Rice of Elkhart, IN. Also surviving are his nieces,Angela Hardman (Jory), Brandie Brown, Grace Lincoln, and his great nieces Rylee Hardman and Madison Beam. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Alvin Gongwer Sr.
Ronald was employed at Michiana Tool Rental, where he worked alongside a family friend for many years. He enjoyed spending his time tinkering with anything that did not work, going to garage sales and flea markets, and spending time with his mother at the park. He spent years collecting toy trucks, stamps, and vinyl 45 records. Ronald will be dearly missed by his family, especially during holidays, and will always be remembered when they hear the song “Wildfire” by Michael Martin Murphey.
A Memorial Service for Ronald will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home- Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S.
