Rose Emma White, 76, passed away peacefully at her residence in South Bend during the early hours of Monday, February 4, 2019. Rose was born on May 11, 1942 in Jackson, TN to James Robert and Lucretia (Jones) Winston.
Rose spent the first 6 years of her life as a resident of Tennessee, moving to South Bend in the 1940s. After completing high school, Rose entered the workforce and raised five children. She was a long-time employee of Plastic Solutions, where she worked faithfully as a machine operator. Rose was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, extended relative and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her children: Ramona L. White, Darius E. White (Karen), Regina F. Chester, Richard C. Chester, Jr. and Renee M. Chester, all of South Bend; grandchildren Willie Smith, Jr., Amber Rose White, Anthony Hardiman (Kim), Angela Hardiman (Andy), Jada White, Lakendra Griffin (Xavier), Karina Griffin, Deshone Chester, Shamikka Frazier (Miguel), Erika Herron, Sanquan Frazier (Shanise), Eboni Frazier (Sharlo) and Denzel Williams; 50 great-grandchildren; sisters Evetta Trice, Mary Ann Norman, Margaret R. Winston, Joyce M. Winston, all of South Bend, and Gail L. (Willie) Ashley of Tyrone, Atlanta; brother John I. Winston (Peggy) of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by great-grandchild De’Shyra Smith; parents James and Lucretia Winston; and five siblings: Lou Willie Chatman, Robert James Winston, Prealean Theus, Roylee Winston and Ernestine Shivers.
Services for Rose Emma White will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Rev. Marvin Bingham of Pilgrim Baptist Church will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
