I talked to Tom three time's in my life-that was at St. Mathias Catholic Auditorium in Crown Point-Indiana where he attended Model Railway presentation's.-I had explained to him how I found myself in a photo of a 1952 train wreck in Lowell-Indiana--I had found it on the internet when looking up the Monon Railroad on which he created a website-I was 10 year's old in that photo and did not realize it existed at all until 2003 when I started using the internet-I am also in a short film strip on the site--and my folk's 1950 Chrysler New Yorker is also visible--they had gone down to look at the wreck site-.
So--I am greatly saddened at Tom's passing--My brother and Tom Claussen had a Rail Modeler's club for many year's in Crown Point--at one time filling an entire barn hayloft with a complete layout-
Strange coincidence---me looking at those photo's and seeing myself after 50 year's--taken unbeknownst to me--If it were not for Tom I would never had known--The best to you--Tom and friend's and family--R-I-P--Carl A. Helsing-Crown Point-Indiana--

I was so saddened to hear of Tom Kepahire's death. Like many, I knew Tom through our mutual involvement in the MONON Society. What a wealth of information he was, but more than that he was always friendly and open to new members like me in the early 2000's.
I have many memories of adventures with Tom and other MONON Members through the years. At every convention, when Tom would first see me, he always say, "Just who I want to see, I have ______ to show you. It's new and I know you'll want it/one." He was usually right.
What a loss, but now his suffering from health issues are over. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He will.be.missed. Rest in Peace, Tom.

I promise to try to not remember the last moments you were here as they were. Instead I will remember the last day I had with you a week ago. The slight smile you had on your face even through pain in the moments we shared that day. I promise I will take care of everyone just as you would want. I know I made you proud, but Daddy you made me proud. You tried and there are no regrets. I know you’re here with us. Check in with us all but fly high. You’ve certainly earned it. I love and miss you Daddy.

PS bonus points if you can make Zak Bagans go “woaahhhh...” in a future Ghost Adventure episode. Xoxo

I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was an excellent person and everyone that met him was better for it. Tom did really wonderful work for the Monon Historical Technical Society and we have all benefited from his efforts. His website about the Bygone Monon is excellent and a tribute to all the hard work he put forth on it. I learned so much from the information that he put on the web and I am very thankful for his efforts. He was also a very conscientious contributor to the Monon webring and his efforts with the MRHTS website were appreciated by all the members. We all miss him and his loss will be felt for many years amongst the fans of the Monon. Thank you Tom for all the time you put forward to the Monon's memory, and thank you to his family for letting him devote the time to his hobby, that he might have spent with you. He is missed and will not be forgotten. My wife and I send our sincere condolences. Thank you Tom, for all your efforts, you have helped the history of Indiana with your work.
