Warren "Korky" Korkhouse Obituary

Warren L. “Korky” Korkhouse, Sr., 88, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away early Monday morning, November 11, 2019 at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. Korky was born April 15, 1931 in South Bend, to the late Walter Lee and Blanche W. (Rochon) Korkhouse. On May 15, 1948 in South Bend, he married the former Virginia C. Otolski, who survives.

Korky retired from the United States Navy after twenty-one years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Navy, he went on to work for Simon Brothers for thirteen years; then worked at a sports shop selling guns in Mishawaka. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Korky is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Virginia; son, Warren (fiancée, Karen Larson) Korkhouse Jr. of Mishawaka; grandson, Josh (Emma) Korkhouse of Greensburg, Indiana; and great-grandson, Sullivan Korkhouse. Korky was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter Lee Korkhouse and William Korkhouse; and sister, Dorothea J. Stanage.

A memorial service for Korky will be held at a later date at St. Paul Lutheran Church in South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family.
