William "Pat" Gaffney Jr.

South Bend – William “Pat” Gaffney Jr., 67, passed away Friday August 3, 2018 at Center for Hospice, South Bend, IN.  Pat was born on March 23, 1951 to the late William P. and Lucille Marie (Sloman) Gaffney. He cherished his 3 dogs, Charlie and Sophie who preceded him in death and Rusty who survives. He was very proud to be employed by the University of Notre Dame, where he worked in food service at the North Dining Hall for the last 20 years.

Pat lived an amazing life and he was an inspiration to his family and friends. He was a simple and generous person that just loved to stay in touch with everyone. If he couldn’t get together with you he would call to check in and see how you were doing. He was the “glue” that kept everyone connected. One of his favorite things to do was to go to “The Skillet” Restaurant for a great meal and to see friends. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Pat is survived by his sister, Kathy Gaffney of South Bend, IN; brothers, Michael Gaffney of Mishawaka, IN, Kevin (Shaunda) Gaffney of South Bend, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Pat will be on Wednesday, August 8 at 6:00 pm Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN 46615 where friends may gather with  the family 2 hours prior services (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm) Memorial contributions can be made to the Human Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.  Online condolences can be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com    .
