Adam Philip Liggett, 41, passed away peacefully on Monday January 19th, 2026, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Illinois surrounded by his loving wife and immediate family.
Adam was born on February 27th, 1984, in South Bend, Indiana. He lived his life with a gentle heart and an unwavering commitment to peace and harmony. His calm demeanor and stress‑free way of moving through the world created a vibe that others naturally gravitated to whenever they were in his presence. He had a gift for grounding others while making life feel lighter.
A lover of jam bands, bass guitar, concerts, and music festivals, Adam found joy in sound, rhythm, and community. He felt most at home in nature—whether hiking mountains, gardening, kayaking, or just a spot to tie a hammock to and chill. His simple way of living was not just a preference but a reflection of who he was at his core.
As a middle child, Adam kept his family on their toes with a balancing act of trying to stay out of trouble. His Kindergarten teacher once said he would go through life with little stress, and she was right. Adam carried that ease with him always.
Adam was a graduate of John Glenn High School, Class of 2003, where he played trumpet in the band. Shortly after graduation, on June 4, 2003, he began his career as a welder at River Bend Hose Specialty in South Bend, Indiana. He dedicated more than 22 years to the company, where he was known for his strong work ethic, hands‑on skill, and constant willingness to help anyone who needed it.
On November 19th, 2021, in Plymouth, Indiana, Adam married the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” (Devereaux) Liggett. Soon after they were married, they welcomed their amazing son, Corbin Liggett into this world on April 20th, 2022. Adam was a devoted son, husband, and father, with family at the absolute center of his world. His love language was acts of service, and he would do anything asked of him by those he loved. The world would undoubtedly be a better place if there were more Adams.
Adam is survived by his wife, Becky Liggett; his son, Corbin Liggett; his father, Kirk (Christine Sheppard) Liggett, and his mother, Joyce Liggett and her friend Lisa Martenson; his sister, Brooke (Brant) Whitaker; his brother, Brandon (Lilia Clarke) Liggett; and his nieces and nephews: Dylan and Sadie (Brandon) Liggett, and Calvin, Elaina, and Lyla (Brooke) Whitaker.
A memorial for Adam will be held on Friday, February 13th, from 2:00–8:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN, to allow time for friends and family to travel and gather. Guests are encouraged to wear tie‑dye, Grateful Dead, Phish, or other band shirts—paired with jeans and comfortable shoes—in honor of Adam’s easygoing, “come as you are” spirit. A time for sharing begin at 6:30pm, after which guests are welcome to share their own memories, stories, and moments with Adam.
Flower donations welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adam’s honor will be accepted at the memorial or VIA GoFundMe and will go towards navigating Corbin’s future without his doting father https://gofund.me/fbe84c7d5
