Alfreida O'Brien Richardson Forrest

Alfreida O’Brien Richardson-Forrest, 71, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the West Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation in South Bend. She was born on September 24, 1950, to Lillian and Walter Richardson in South Bend. Alfreida attended Oliver Elementary School. She graduated from Washington High School in 1969. Alfreida attended post-secondary school in Chicago, IL. 

Alfreida met Franklin Forrest, and they married on June 4, 1994. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Joy Forrest.

Alfreida worked hard and held several jobs with South Bend Community Schools. She worked as a bus driver and a paraprofessional for a combined total of 15 years. She also dedicated 12 years of her life to working with individuals with disabilities at LOGAN Industries. Being her mother’s only child, she grew up with her cousins as siblings. Alfreida was a loving wife, daughter, and mother. Alfreida is survived by her husband, Franklin; daughter, Joy Forrest of Bloomington, IN; and her sisters, Felicia , Fhonda , and Fayonna Forrest, all of South Bend; and one sister, Dorothy Ellis of South Bend. She will be deeply missed by her cousins, Marilyn Ivory-Easton, Jackie Moody, Patricia Fisher, Bobbi Day, Carlton Ivory, Sheldon Ivory, and her extended family and friends. Alfreida was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunt, Alice Ivory; uncle, Robert Cobb, Jr.; and cousins, Keith Ivory and Ethurel Ivory, Jr.

Funeral services for Alfreida will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at noon at Palmer Funeral Home-West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West in South Bend, IN. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Funeral services are entrusted to Palmer Funeral Home and Southlawn Cremation Services.

The family of Alfreida would like to thank: Milton Home, West Bend Nursing Home, and most of all, Heart-to-Heart Hospice, for assisting with taking care of her during her illness.
