Amy Crystal Barr

Amy Crystal Barr, born February 23, 1978, in Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on August 31, 2023, in South Bend, Indiana. She passed away due to a drug overdose after a long battle with addiction. While we are deeply saddened to see her go, we are relieved that her struggle has ended, and she is now at peace.

Amy was the daughter of Randy (Yvonne) Startup and Deborah Jacobs. She was the mother of three children, Tommy Witt, Grace Krueger, and Gretchen Krueger. Amy was also a sister to Edith (Charles) McClelland, Joshua Startup, Jennifer Startup, and Brett Jacobs.

Amy was fun-loving, confident, free-spirited, and fearless. She had countless friends and acquaintances. She will forever be loved, missed, and remembered. She became a hero in death by donating her kidneys to others awaiting life saving transplants.

Per the wishes of the family, no services will be held. Donations can be made in her memory to SAFE Project Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic at safeproject.us. Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
