Ann Catherine Pennington, 86, residing in South Bend, passed away at 11:29 pm Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Healthwin Specialized Care. She was born June 8, 1929 in Hammond, IN to the late Walter and Eileen (Sullivan) Homan.
In 1952, in Hammond, IN, Ann married Benjamin David Pennington, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a daughter, Linda Pennington; and sons, Daniel and Robert Pennington.
Ann worked as secretary to the Chief of Police of the Hammond Police Department, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service. She was a longtime resident of Hammond, until retiring to Colon, Michigan.
Ann is survived by her children, Sharon (Steve) Opheim of Killen, AL, Benjamin David (Barbie) Pennington, Jr., of Cedar Lake, IN, Kat (Robert) Skipton of South Bend and Donald (Nancy) Pennington of Peoria, AZ; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, October 9, 2015 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, October 8, 2015 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend as well as one hour prior to mass on Friday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences may be left for the Pennington family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
