Arlene June Getha Jacobs

Arlene June Jacobs, 85, a Mishawaka resident since 1994, passed away at 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Riverside Village in Elkhart, IN.  She was born June 18, 1933 in Wakarusa, IN, to Willard and Mabel (Smeltzer) Sauer and has remained a lifelong resident of this community.

In 1952 Arlene married William Getha and he preceded her in death in 1976. On August 11, 1983 in South Bend, Arlene was united in marriage to Patrick Jacobs who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Gary) Nimtz of Lakeville, and Patsy (Gary) Roush of AZ, and two sons, Bill (Carol) Getha of Plymouth, IN; and Stan (Annette) Getha of Lakeville, IN; son in law Kendall Koontz of Bremen, IN; 15 grandchildren: Tammy Gilliam, Edgar (April) Pierce, William Getha III, Kristel (Mike) Patrick, Jennifer Stanley, James (Jennifer Colanese) Stanley, Joseph (Kelly) Stanley, Brandon (Tara) Nimtz, Daniel (Rachel) Bettcher Nimtz, Jacob (Elizabeth) Fawley, Amanda (Joseph) Greenan, Rebecca (Mike) Barns, Eve (Justin) Kizer, Sara (AJ) Brija, and Jonathan (Lisa) Koontz32 great grandchildren ; Christian, Cara, James, Tatum, Nicole, Oakley, Breanna, Annabelle, Gabrielle, Arianna, Jamison, Briar, Cutler, Elin, Eleanor, Elias, Emmett, Cheksea, Grant, Jaxon, Anistazia, Destiney, Mike, Gabe, Cage, Andrew, Wyatt, Daniel, Alexis, Zack, Dylan, Evelyn and 3 great great grandchildren Karson, Grayson, and Farren. She is also survived by her sisters; Joyce Gaines of Lakeville and Jane Sauer of Texas, her brothers; Dale (Judy) Sauer of Lakeville, and Robert (Dorothy) Sauer of Lakeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Becky Koontz and her two brothers Vernon Sauer and Floyd Sauer as well as nine sisters Alice Platz, Maxine Harter, Velma Merrill, Lois Miller, Mary Gearhart, Carolyn Sanders, Jean Battles, Fayette Hunsburger, and Catherine Bellows.

Services celebrating the life of Arlene will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11:00am at the Palmer Funeral Home-within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 North Michigan St., Lakeville, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00pm–8:00pm at the funeral home and one hour before funeral services on Wednesday.
