Audrey Marie (Peterson) Davis passed away on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2022 at her residence in South Bend, IN. She was born on September 5, 1926, to Clara and Abel Peterson in Duluth, MN.
She lived most of her youth in Minneapolis, MN, where she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Fine Arts. She married Edward Sexton Davis on April 11, 1953. A few years later they moved to South Bend, IN, where she and Ed raised their seven children and spent the remainder of their lives. They were members of Little Flower Catholic Church where they participated in many of the church groups and activities over the years.
Audrey was a local artist in the South Bend community and was a member of the South Bend Watercolor Society. Painting with watercolors was her primary and favorite form of artistic expression, and she participated in the Leeper Park Art Fair as an exhibitor for many years. She also enjoyed being a docent, giving tours, at the University of Notre Dame's Snite Museum and the South Bend Museum of Art over a 21-year period. She loved to travel, always having an interest in the world around her, and continued to do so throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her son, Mark E Davis. She is survived by six children, Judy M. Davis, James I. (Dawn) Davis, Margaret “Peggy” C. (Billy) Spromberg, Thomas G. Davis, Barbara J. (Larry) Roberson, Paul R. (Rachael) Davis; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Audrey’s final years were eased by the love and devotion provided by her wonderful caregivers. Our family is very grateful for Wanita and Grace Hospice for all their support and dedication.
