Barbara Dixon Obituary

Barbara S. (Williamson) Dixon, 81, of South Bend passed away on Sunday December 21, 2025, at Millers Merry Manor in Plymouth.

Barbara was born on October 2, 1944, in Shelby County, IN to the late Wesley Williamson and Sarah Knox. 

After High School she obtained her degree as a registered nurse and worked for Hinsdale Hospital, Michiana Community, and Elkhart General Hospital, primarily in outpatient surgery.

On August 22, 1964, she married Rev. Ronald Dixon, sharing 48 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.

Barbara was a faithful and active member of the United Methodist Church, and Emmaus Community.  Barbara loved to cook for family and friends, and decorate for Christmas with up to a dozen decorated trees.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Michael (Jessica) Dixon and Kevin Dixon as well as her grandchildren, Jeffery, Samantha, Felicia, Tristen, and Lisa, and great grandchildren, Emerlyn, Kynzlee, Loerlai, Brantley, Asher, and Heartlyn.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Della Kersey.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Saturday January 10, 2026, at Southlawn United Methodist Church.  A memorial service will begin at 11am at the church with entombment to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
