Betty L. Kizer, 92 years old, passed away at 4:13 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Betty was born on March 18, 1930 in Plymouth, IN to the late Glen and Dora (Carlson) Farver. She has remained a lifelong area resident. On April 9, 1949 in Plymouth, Betty and L. Dean Kizer were united in marriage. Her husband preceded her in death on September 19, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Stallo; granddaughter, Lyn Kizer; three brothers; and three sisters.
Betty is survived by her two children, Debbie (Rod) Schwandner of South Bend and Steve Kizer of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Amy (Greg) Judy, Jody Schwandner, Stephanie Schwandner, Tim (Ulfet) Wright, and Dean Kizer; and eight great grandchildren, Samantha, Ben, Taylor, Ava, Sophia, Hannah, Harper, and Allison.
Betty formerly worked at Ferrell’s Ice Cream Parlor at Scottsdale Mall in South Bend. She worked for many years for the South Bend Tribune. Betty loved working in her flowers and mowing her yard. She loved reading a good book and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
