Beverly Ann (Walter) VanSandt

Beverly Ann VanSandt, age 78, of Niles, Michigan, passed away on June 17, 2026, in Niles. She was born on January 20, 1948, in Buchanan, Michigan, to Martin Walter and Grace V. (Lorance) Snyder.

Beverly lived a life marked by love, strength, and devoted service to others. She was a loving woman whose presence brought comfort, encouragement, and warmth to many. Those who knew her will remember her as someone who gave freely of herself and who carried a deep commitment to family, faith, and community throughout her life.

Beverly attended college at Southwestern Michigan College and went on to serve others through her work as a case worker for The Salvation Army. Her professional life reflected the same compassion that guided her personally, and she was widely respected for the care and dignity she extended to those she helped. She also gave countless hours to community service through The Salvation Army, where she played an active role in the Christmas bell ringing, Toy Drive and Angel Tree programs. She participated in the USPS food drives and organized family meal boxes for countless holidays. Her service touched many lives and left a lasting impression on the community she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Walter; her mother, Grace V. (Lorance) Snyder; her husband, Vernon VanSandt Sr.; and her brother, Martin Walter Jr. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Robert) Grice, Veronica (Eric) McCombs, Vernon (Kim) VanSandt Jr. and Whitney (Brian) Miller. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Valli, Robert, Rebecca, Ashley (Nick), Jessica, Susan, Kaleb, and Austin. She is further survived by her brothers, Frank (Peggy) Walter, Mike (Laura) Walter, Ronnie Walter, and Jeff (Barb) Walter.

Beverly was known as a mother to all, her home was open to anyone who needed her. She raised her three younger brothers from a very young age, showing remarkable responsibility, tenderness, and strength beyond her years. Her family and friends admired her resilience, especially after she fought back following a devastating spinal cord injury. Through hardship and challenge, she remained steadfast and determined, continuing to inspire those around her with her courage and grace.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Beverly was a devoted member of The Salvation Army, where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the Sunbeams, sharing her kindness and guidance with children and families in her church community.

There will be a visitation for Beverly on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home- Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front St. Buchanan, MI. Graveside service and burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Bertrand Bible Church Cemetery.
