Bhanumati B. Desai

Bhanumati Bhupendrasinh Desai, 81, of Gujarat, India, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana. She was born on August 4, 1938 in Bavra, Gujarat to the late Baldevbhai Patel and Mangalaben Patel.

Bhanumati was devout in her faith and dedication to her family. As one of the eldest among nine siblings, Bhanumati has long been admired for being relentlessly loyal, incredibly headstrong, and always cheerful. Her spirit remains with us, despite having left her earthly body.

Though Bhanumati’s love was far reaching—she loved her grandchildren with a fierce, and often times stubborn, passion. That love and her teachings led all three of her grandchildren to continue to live fulfilled lives. All it took to put a smile on Bhanumati’s face was a phone call, a smile, or a bold joke from her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Maheshkumara, his wife Nipuna, and their two children – Jaina and Malav; and her daughter Nandiniben, her husband Bipinchandra, and their daughter, Komal.

A celebration in honor of her life and memory will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 1713 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana, with Maharaj Yogeshbhai officiating the ceremony. The cremation ceremony will follow at Southlawn Cremation Services in South Bend, IN.
