Billie A. (Smith) Clements

Billie A. Clements, 76, of Mishawaka, IN., passed away at 1:23 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, at St. Joseph Health System Mishawaka.

Billie was born on June 9, 1944, in Niles, Michigan to Bill and Ann (Doyle) Smith. Billie was raised in Mishawaka by her mother and stepfather, Ann and Miles Beard. 

On August 12, 1995, Billie married her loving husband, David Guerin. Cherishing her loving memory David survives along with her two children, Kevin (Amy) Clements of Cincinnati, Ohio, Erin (Steven) Clements Kalo of Valley City, Ohio, three step grandchildren, Nathan, Eric, and Adam Kalo, her sister and best friend Jo Ellen Cornelius of Atlanta, Georgia, her sister Alice Dowlett of Bethesda, Maryland, and three brothers: Jes Beard of Georgia, Dale Beard of the Philippines, and Rex Beard of Carmel, IN. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, and her first husband E. David Clements.

A loving wife and mom with a heart of gold, Billie worked tirelessly to give her family every opportunity to reach their hopes and dreams.  With her love of books and education, Billie earned her Bachelor of Science degree and certification to teach kindergarten through eighth grade from Indiana University (1982).  She later returned to school and received her Master of Library Science degree (2003).  She was especially talented and knowledgeable with genealogy and historical information.  Throughout the years Billie was always active in her community and multiple charities.  Her kind and compassionate spirit shined as brightly as her intelligence, strength, and independence.  She cared deeply for her family, friends, and community.  Billie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, along with her husband David.  Billie will be forever missed and cherished by her family and friends.  We lost an amazing lady.     

A memorial service for Billie will be held Sunday, June 27 at 2:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes-Bubb Chapel, 3910 N.
