Blanche (Elliott) Truax

WALKERTON – Blanche Truax, 96, formerly of Walkerton, IN passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in her daughter’s home in Goshen, IN.  Blanche was born on February 25, 1919 in Girard, IL to the late Frank and Cecelia (Owens) Elliott).  On September 18, 1938 in North Liberty, IN she married Harry A.  Truax who preceded her in death on February 11, 1997.   

Blanche is survived by her daughters Sharon (Jim) Kinney of Walkerton, IN and Jean (Phillip) Clark of Goshen, IN; her son, Dr. James (Patricia) Truax of Waco, TX; her eight grandchildren, Rhonda (Dave Prybylla) Kinney, Michael (Kim) Kinney, Joshua (Amy) Clark, Todd (Anna) Clark, Nathan Clark, Jeff (Laurie) Truax, James (Jeanie) Truax, and Kurt (Christina) Truax; sixteen great-grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, Adam, Ashley, Katie, Anna, Katherine, Jedidiah, Jeremy, Naomi, Jennifer, Kyle, Eric, Austin, Emily and Hayden, and great-great grandchildren, Madison and Carson.  Blanche lived in the Bethel Holiness Orphanage in Carlinville, IL from age 2 ½ to age 6.  She was then raised by her foster parents, the late Jess and Pearl McKesson, from age 12 to 19.    In addition to her parents, her foster parents and her husband, Blanche was preceded in death by five brothers, Don, Bob, Russell, Howard and Leslie, four foster brothers and one foster sister. 

Blanche graduated from Tyner high school in 1937.  She was a member of Pine Creek Church of the Brethren in North Liberty for over 70 years, where she served in many teaching and administrative rolls including directing the choirs and as a Bible School director. 

Blanche was dedicated to her immediate and extended family and enjoyed teaching piano, playing Euchre and Canasta games, bowling, planting flowers, embroidery and cooking.  Blanche was also a Hospice volunteer.

Funeral services for Blanche will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren; 69531 Pine Road, North Liberty, IN, 46554.  Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 between 4:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to services at the church.  Graveside services and burial will take place after the service at Fair Cemetery in North Liberty.  Palmer Funeral Home – Lakeville Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
