Calvin L. Stuart

Calvin L. Stuart, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away peacefully on February 21, 2020 at his home.  He was born on March 29, 1935 to the late Franklin and Lola (Neva) Stuart.  Calvin was a resident of South Bend for most of his life. 

On June 18, 1955 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Lee Ann (Simon) Stuart who preceded him in death on December 9, 2018.

Calvin served honorably in the United States Navy, during the Korean War.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 33 years before retiring in 1998.  He attended Gospel Center Missionary Church.  Calvin was a member of Local #150 – Operators Engineers and scuba club, the Michiana Tritons.

Calvin is survived by two daughters, Terri Nelson of South Bend and Lori (Eric) Vance of Saint Joseph, Michigan.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. 

Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his two sons, Scott Allen Stuart and Calvin Stuart Jr., five sisters, Doris Delee Williams, Phyllis Handley, Betty Stuart, Laura Dorrell, and Sharon Simpson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615 with Pastor Jon Ranous and Pastor Don Francis officiating.

Friends may gather with the family from 4-7 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the funeral home, and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South bend.
