Carol M. (Workman) Jensen, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at the age of 89 in Wakarusa, IN. Born on December 24, 1936, in Plymouth, IN, Carol lived a full life marked by devotion to her family, friends, and faith.
She was the cherished wife of Larry Jensen, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of over 70 years after being united in love on September 17, 1955, at Olive Branch Church in Lakeville, IN. Carol was preceded by her parents, Donald and Marjorie (Anglemyer) Workman, and her siblings Muriel Garrett, Shirley Lucas, Juanita Christy, Norma Shirley, and Donald Workman.
Carol's legacy continues through her loving family, including her three sons, Bruce (Mary Ellen) Jensen, Brian "Peanut" Jensen, and Adam (Carmen) Jensen; her adoring grandchildren, Katie (Joel), Janelle (Darren), Donnie (Anne), Meghan (Hector), Jordan (Jessica), Caleb (Hannah), Lauren (David), Tara (Zack), and Trey (Saxon); and her 21 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
A proud graduate of Lakeville High School class of 1954, Carol dedicated 29 years to 1st Source Bank, where she was renowned for her impeccable skills as the head teller and bookkeeper. Her work ethic and welcoming smile were hallmarks of her service, earning her the respect and affection of her colleagues and clients alike.
Carol's interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul. She found solace in mowing grass, gardening, and tending to her vibrant flowers at home. Her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, as she was an exceptional cook and an even more extraordinary baker, celebrated for her mouthwatering pies. Many grandchildren fondly remember the love and laughter shared while baking by her side.
Her love for gospel music was profound. Carol graced many ears as part of a quartet with her sisters, with her angelic voice resonating in the hearts of all who heard it. In addition to her musical talents, Carol was known for her unwavering, friendly demeanor and ever-present smile.
Carol’s devout faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a steadfast member of the Olive Branch Church for more than 70 years, exemplifying her deep commitment through her longtime service and even joyfully mowing its grounds alongside her husband for many years.
A time to visit with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A service will start at noon with Pastor Wesly Skiles officiating. Allservices are being held at Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan St. Lakeville, IN. Procession will immediately follow the service to Porter Rea cemetery.
