Mrs.Carol Sessom, 65, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN during the early hours of Thursday, October 7, 2021. Carol, the fourth of five children, was born on April 20, 1956 in Chicago, IL to James and Earlene (Hines) Miller, who both preceded her in death.
The family moved to South Bend, IN when Carol was very young. She attended South Bend Community Schools. After attending college, Carol was employed as an Intake Coordinator at Life Treatment Center in South Bend for many years. Because of her love for people, particularly children, Carol became a foster parent in which she fostered, raised and adopted several children. She was well known in the community of South Bend and loved by many.
On June 5, 1991, Carol was united in marriage to the love of her life, Mr. Joseph Sessom, Jr. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2003. Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Chaka K. Williams of Westfield, IN, Tamra D. Sessom of Waukesha, WI; Taquisha M. Hines; Kenyatta D. Sessom; Raven Sessom; Kaniesha (Jamel) Lottie; and Tristan Sessom all of South Bend, IN; one brother, Henry (Tracy) Miller of South Bend; grandchildren: Anijah, Ahmanah, Dahmera, Shane, Ahmiah, Charles, Caitlyn, Londyn, Mekhi, Major, Brooklyn, Alan, Anaya and Zy’kirah; one great-grandchild, Nova; and a host of beloved bonus children and grandchildren; as well as a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Other loved ones who preceded her in death: mother-in-law Jewel Sessom; sisters Emma Jean Hines, Patricia Ann Thomas and Annette Hines; two nephews: Lorenzo Hines and Ronald King; and one niece, Carol Hines.
Funeral services for Mrs.Carol Sessom will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Apostle Lorenzo Irving, of Life Center Church of Deliverance will officiate.
