Carolyn S. "Cookie" (DeMaegd) Morgan

Carolyn S. Morgan, nee DeMaegd, passed away on Monday, August 28, in Allen, Texas at the age of 80. Throughout her life, Carolyn, affectionally known as “Cookie” by family and close friends, reflecting one of her life’s passions, which was cooking and baking for her growing family.

Cookie was born on June 6, 1943, to the late Omer and Helen DeMaegd (Jewell) in Mishawaka, Indiana. She graduated from Riley High School in 1961.  On August 19, 1961, Cookie married James W.  Morgan, Jr. at Grace United Methodist Chuth in South Bend, Indiana. In 1976, Cookie and Jim relocated to a new home in Plano, Texas.  Cookie lived the majority of her adult life in North Texas.

Cookie is survived by her children, Dr.  Brent C. (Angie) Morgan of Allen, TX, Darin A. (Dana) Morgan of Naples, Fl, Trevor J. (Joni) Morgan of Gettysburg, PA, and Kristen L. (M.A.J. Darrell Burghard USAF, retired) of Colorado Springs, CO.  She is also survived by eleven very special grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister Ruth Regina of South Bend, IN and brother Mark (Gwen) DeMaegd of Kernersville, NC., several nieces and nephews and  her beloved dog “Dieter” survives.   She was preceded in death by her sister Judy Ann DeMaegd.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3012 S Twyckenham Dr, South Bend, IN 46614.  A burial will take place immediately after at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 AM at the church.

Flowers may be sent to Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, located at 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614.  Additionally, contributions in memory of Cookie may be donated to the Center for Hospice 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
