Cathy Thomas

Ms. Cathy Thomas, 71, passed away in Kissimmee, FL on Saturday, October 16, 2021, after battling an extended illness. Cathy was born on July 1, 1950, in South Bend, IN.

Cathy was a graduate of Central High, class of 1967, and was the owner and CEO of TMG Home Health Care Inc, in South Bend, IN and Kissimmee, FL. On May 19, 1967, Cathy was united in marriage to Mr. Elija McPherson. Cathy was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Despite her large family Cathy always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family, and she worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for them. She would proudly boast about all her children and grandchildren’s achievements. It would be wrong to say that Cathy lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Cathy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Cathy. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Cathy is survived by her children: Terrie (Anthony) Green of South Bend, IN, Trina (Larry) Gordon of Kissimmee, FL and Elijah (Geneva) McPherson of Indianapolis, IN; 14 grandchildren: Tamia (Quentin) Bridgeman, TrayVyon Whitfield, Aaron Whitfield, Blair Whitfield, Adrian Dotson, Allen Redd, Jr., Larry Gordon III, Deonate Gordon, Tyshawn Gordon, Catherine Gordon, Dejuan Floyd, Shawnte Floyd, Shawneece Floyd, Shawnde Floyd; a host of great-grandchildren; three sisters: Peggy (Curtis) Johnson, Rachelle (Frank) Burton and Michelle Anderson; one brother, William Parchman; sisters-in-law Hiawatha Satterwhite, Fannie Mae Johnson of Dyersburg, TN, Florine Hill of Texas and Gussie McPherson of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law James A. McPherson and Frank McPherson of Chicago, IL.  

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cassie (Maddox) Parchman; sister Terrie Parchman; and her former spouse, Elija “Elight” McPherson; sisters-in-law Admonia, Gloria Jean McPherson, Ossie Rucker, Carrie Lue Johnson, Marie Alexander, Josephine Capers, Lizzie Mae Rucker and Corine King; three brothers-in-law: L.C., Cleveland and Robert McPherson.

Services for Ms. Cathy Thomas will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Greater St. Matthew Life Changing Ministries, 2705 Marquette Blvd., South Bend, IN 46628.
