Charles John Mramer

Charles John Mramer, 77, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.  

Known to all his friends and colleagues as “Chuck”, he was born on November 24, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Mramer and Laura (Behm) Mramer, who both preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage on August 17, 1968, in Euclid, Ohio to Lorraine “Lori” (Hocevar) Mramer, who survives him.

Chuck completed his undergraduate at John Carroll University in Ohio and graduated from Notre Dame University with a master’s degree in Philosophy. He worked in banking for over 30 years, retiring from TCU as a loan officer after 25 years.  He continued to work in the Michiana area teaching philosophy at community colleges, and part-time at Enterprise for 15 years.  Chuck, Lori and “the boys” were very involved at St. Anthony’s Church where the kids attended school, and he read as a Lector for over 40 years.  Chuck especially enjoyed football and baseball, his favorite teams being the Fighting Irish and the Cleveland Browns.  Over the course of his life, he remained a devout Catholic, an intelligent and spirited thinker, a nurturing husband, and devoted father who will be forever missed.

In addition to his loving wife, Chuck is survived by his four sons: Joe (Sarah) Mramer of Riverview, Florida, Bill Mramer of Carmel, Indiana, Nic (Randall Scotting) Mramer of Boston, Massachusetts, and John (Christina) Mramer of Summerville, South Carolina; his five grandchildren: Dylan, Anthony, Emily, Anastasia, and Tatiana; his sister, Laurie Sarnowski of Parma, Ohio; and his brother, Rick Mramer of Parma, Ohio.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Arlene Bourson; his brothers, Edward “Bud” Mramer and Donald Mramer.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN 46615 with visitation one hour prior to services.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School.
