Chimanbhai “Chim” P. Patel, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 13, 2021 at his residence in Granger, IN. He was born on July 1, 1927 in Vasad, India, to Purshotambhai Chhotabhai Patel and Gangaben Patel, both of whom preceded him in death.
On February 23, 1959, in Baroda, India, Chim married the former Rama Patel, who survives.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Chim is survived by his daughters, Smita (Rakesh) Chopra of Cypress, CA, and Manisha Patel of Chicago, IL; son, Jaymin (Malini) Patel of Dublin, OH; and four grandchildren, Shreena, Jai, Aadi and Sahana.
Chim graduated from Northeastern University with a master’s degree in chemistry and from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He was employed as a chemist and pharmacist at Bayer Corporation (formerly, Miles Laboratories) and Solvay Enzymes. He has resided in the United States since 1952.
A celebration of life for Chim will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Following the service, a gathering for family and friends will be held until 5:00pm.
