Christine Ann Werntz, 69 years old, passed away at 7:36 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 surrounded by her family at the Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, IN. Christine was born on October 22, 1951 in South Bend to the late Harold and Eilene (Freeze) Snyder. She was a lifelong resident of Lakeville, IN. Christine retired on February 23, 2013 as a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital after 40 years of service. On October 6, 1973 at the North Liberty Church of Christ, Christine and Michael D. Werntz, Sr., were united in marriage.
Along with Michael, her loving husband of 47 years, she is survived by their children, Abbey Christine (Phil) Hoffman of Greenwood, IN and Michael D. (Gail) Werntz, Jr. of Osceola; and four grandchildren, Emma and Zachary Hoffman, and Seth and Garrett Werntz. Christine is also survived by three sisters, Pat (Frank) Criniti of Granger; Susan (Tim) Baughman of Cypress, TX; and Becky (Jerry) Schoelkopf of Tenino, WA; and six brothers, Lee (Joanie) Snyder of Lakeville; Robert “Bob” (Donna) Snyder of Granger; Steve (Kathy) Snyder of North Liberty; Bill Snyder of North Liberty; John (Gwen) Snyder of Buchanan; and Noel (Kim) Snyder of North Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 24th at the funeral home.
