On Friday March 13th, Cynthia Dee House passed away in the comfort of her home. Cyndee was the kindest and loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Nothing cheered her up more than when she was surrounded by her family. She loved her role so much she coached all the sports, attended all the games, and involved herself in every aspect as much as she could. She was sweet beyond comparison but with a scowl that could knock you into good behavior or a giggle.
While the last years of her life were mostly homebound, she was always full of adventure. She would visit her daughter, go to their trailer in Irons, or loved going to a new town with the Leiter Ladies. Cyndee loved sitting at the kitchen table playing cards especially with her girls. She always loved her flowers and being in her garden. Throughout her life, she loved nature and watching the birds, as well as her pets and was known to have at least one throughout her life.
Cyndee is survived by her husband, John House, of 63 years. Her daughters Tracie (Donny Espick) House and Wanda (Tim) Schnapp, son-in-law Jay Whitaker, and granddaughter Ember House; all of Buchanan. Sisters Dale (Phil) Weldy and Shelley (Tom) Hubbell. She was the beloved aunt of many. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Evelyn Leiter, her brother Bruce Leiter and her beloved daughter Kelli Whitaker.
Funeral services for Cyndee will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front St. Buchanan, with visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. There will be an inurnment at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
