Dale E. Schlarb, 98, of Greenville, SC, formerly a lifelong resident of Lakeville, IN passed away on Monday December 1, 2025.
Dale was born on November 12, 1927, in Mishawaka, IN to the late Herbert and Ina Belle (Howell) Schlarb.
He attended Lakeville High School where he excelled as basketball player for the Trojans.
After High School Dale enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. While in North Carolina, he once again got to do what he loved most as he became a member of the Ft. Bragg basketball team.
Upon leaving the service he went on to work for 36 years for Indiana Bell, Ameritech, SBC and AT&T throughout his career. He retired in 1990.
On September 22, 1951, in South Bend he married Joan Olmstead, sharing the last 74 years together- a true testament to love and faith. Together they have 5 children: Chris Kaser, Keith (Donna) Schlarb, Dann (Ann) Schlarb, David (Terri) Schlarb, and Kathleen Laven. They were also blessed with 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Also surviving is Dale's sister, Lois Blackley, and many nieces and nephews.
Dale became a child of God through repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ alone. He and Joan were longtime members of Community Baptist Church in South Bend.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Chris Kaser, and his brother, Jack Schlarb.
Visitation for Dale will be held from 10am-11am on Saturday December 6, 2025, at Grace Fellowship Church in Bremen, 535 S. Birkey St. A funeral service will begin at 11am and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church.
