David Bennett Obituary

David H. Bennett, known to many as Dave, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Niles, Michigan, at the age of 67.

Dave was born on June 24, 1958, in Niles, Michigan, to Elaine (Makowski) Bennett and Howard Bennett. Though his roots were firmly planted in Michigan, his life took him to several places over the years, including Louisiana, a brief stay in California, and later Texas.

After graduating from Buchanan High School, Dave built a long and respected career as a diesel technician in the trucking industry. He took great pride in his work and had a natural talent for understanding how things operated. He especially loved working on cars, and whether he was fixing an engine, troubleshooting a problem, or lending a helping hand, Dave always gave his best.
Outside of work, Dave enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved the outdoors and found happiness in camping and traveling. These interests gave him time to relax, explore, and make lasting memories with the people he cared about. He appreciated time spent in nature and valued the experiences that came from being on the road or gathered around a campsite. His love of adventure and his appreciation for life’s quieter moments reflected the person he was.

Family was an important part of Dave’s life, and he will be deeply missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his father, Howard Bennett; his son, David “Rocky” Bennett; his daughter, Jennifer Bennett; his brother, Duane Bennett and his wife, Lisa; and his grandchildren, Chelsey Bennett (Dillion), Talen Bennett, Dayton Smith (Alex), Blaze Sandoval, and Corbin Sandoval. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Sterling, Julian, his companion Kelly Moore and his beloved furry friend, his dog, Meko. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine (Makowski) Bennett, and by his wife, Belinda Bennett.

His family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the love he gave so freely.

Dave’s life was marked by his friendly nature, his dedication to his work, and his devotion to the people around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the lessons he taught through example, and in the many moments of laughter, support, and love that he shared throughout his life.
