David G Henry

David G. Henry, 97 years old, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Heritage Assisted Living Center, Battle Creek, Michigan.  David was formerly of the South Bend area.  David was born on December 3, 1921 in South Bend to Benjamin G. and D. Ruth (Blunk) Henry.  On December 25, 1947 in Germany, David married Clara Helena (Nordt), who preceded him in death on October 20, 2002.  Two brothers Harold and Donald also preceded David in death.

David is survived by two daughters, Christina Barbara (Larry) Rheault of Plymouth, MI and Brigitta (Dale) Staley of Battle Creek, Michigan; son David Patrick Henry of North Liberty, IN and five grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Staley, Paul (Chrissy) Staley, Russell (Angelica) Henry, Lydia Henry and Sara Beth Henry; four great grandchildren, Silas Staley, Eli Staley, Oliver Staley and Lincoln Staley.

David Henry attained rank of Major in the Army; active duty for 6 years and additional 20 years in  the reserves. He worked for Clark Equipment Company, Buchanan, Michigan 11 years; then Zimmer (Bristol Meyers) for 13 years before he retired and became a consultant. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday May 29, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614.  Friends may visit the family from 1:00 – 2:00pm at the funeral home.  A Graveside service with military honors will be held at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend following the service.
