David Emanuell Lax, 69, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 21st, with his loving wife by his side. David was the son of Frank Lax and Velma Lee Lax (Walker) born on May 23rd, 1956, in South Bend, Indiana.
David’s illness had just been found out, but he fought with strength even though it was a short battle. David attended the South Bend Community School System. He worked for different factories, but the one he held the longest was at Lock Joint Tube as a Take-Off mill operator for 39 yrs.
David had a big heart, helping with talking to young men, trying to ask them about what they are doing to try to turn their life around. The young men gave David respect, although he told them point blank what they needed to do, they listened even when he was hard on them. He would help with his neighbor when she was alone and told her to come by and get a plate on holidays, because no family would spend time with her.
David’s Favorite past time was fishing, going to the casino, getting together with family playing dominoes, making his favorite chicken and noodles and barbecuing his chicken on the grill. David was a man who took great pride in taking care of his lawn every Saturday and loved to go shopping with his sister Donna and his niece, Marie.
David leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Sharon D. Lax (Weaver); 2 daughters, Tschrina Marie Lax of South Bend, Indiana and Dami (Robert Marier) Lax of Tampa, Fl; 2 Stepsons, Lynell Mitchem and Andrew Blue both of South Bend, Indiana; 3 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren; 5 Step Grand Children and 3 Step Great Grand Children; his Mother-In-Law, Rosie Weaver, South Bend, Indiana; 2 Sisters, Donna Mae Haynes and Pam Lax, both of South Bend, Indiana; 6 Brothers, Arthur (Ann) Lax of Kankakee, Illinois, Herbert Lax, Darryl (Janice) Lax and Ronald Lax all of South Bend, Indiana, Durrell (Marie) Lax of Maryland and Jerry (Carolyn) Lax of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
David was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Raymond Lax, Frank Lax, Bobby Mitchell and John Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 S. St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628.
