Dee Liepert Obituary

Dee Liepert, 87, of Granger, IN, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, peacefully in her sleep. She was born on April 27, 1935, in their small family home on the wide open prairie near Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Roy Vivian Roberts and Grace Belle (Harper) Roberts. On December 7, 1957, in Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada, she was united in marriage to Donald Louis Liepert.

Dee lived through all the changes of the twentieth century to enjoy the comforts of the twenty-first.  Over the years, Dee worked as a bookkeeper and a sales representative, but her most important role was as wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She took great pride in raising her family and would travel back and forth between her family in Canada and the United States. She was a wonderful teacher, and when she was done, you never had a question of what was to be done after she gave instructions.

Dee had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to banter back and for forth with her grandkids. She would spend time playing games and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Green Bay Packers fan. Her favorite game was Scrabble. She always had a game going, even if it was just with herself. The score was never important; it was the joy of playing the game and the company of those who played with her that mattered the most. Those who knew her, will remember her beautiful singing voice and how she always had fresh baked cookies as her children were growing up. She loved sewing and smocking. She would make clothes for her children and continued that tradition with her grandchildren, knitting baby blankets for them, baptismal gowns and even ran her own business called Grandma Dee’s Designs. Her most important relationship in her life was with Jesus, and her faith was very important to her. She carried that faith in all aspects of her life.

Dee is survived by her children: daughter, Dawn Louise (Ken) Lazorko of Calgary Alberta, Canada; sons, Dr. David (Misbah) Liepert of Calgary Alberta, Canada; and Dr. Douglas (Taimi) Liepert of Granger, IN. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her eight grandchildren, Erin Kandalaft (Rony), Renae Peters (Bryan), Adam Lazorko (Anila), Michael Liepert, Marley Liepert, Dr. Maya Liepert, Yousuf Liepert, Lucas Donald Liepert; eight great-grandchildren, Grayson, Landon, Weston, and Nyah Dee Peters; Mauricio, Mia, and Romeo Kandalaft; and Noah Lazorko; and her brother, Joseph Roy (Crystal) Roberts of Martensville, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dee was loved by nieces and nephews, Ron (Barb), Dale (Carol) Willson, Brenda (Tim) Wollin, Bruce (Lisa) Taranger, Dana (Neil) Kormish, Todd (Vanessa) Roberts; and brother-in-law, Dr. Lawrence Taranger (Ruth). Along with her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald L. Liepert; her sister, Florence Mae Taranger; and brother, Howard Leslie Roberts.

In keeping with Dee’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life back in Canada at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
