Deirdre M Johnson

Deirdre M. Johnson, of South Bend, IN passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend at the age of 52.

She was born on July 25, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Walter Louis Edmunds and Thelma Mae Mary Virginia Larkins- Johnson. Her stepfather was Jack Hall.

She was preceded in death by her longtime lover Willie J. Robins and brothers: Gary Britt, Alvin Hall, Earl Johnson and sisters: Floreen Johnson, Mary Davis, Ellen Johnson, and Jacquline Hall, nephew, Kenneth “Ricky” Johnson, niece, Tonya Johnson, and brother in law, John W. Fuller.

Deirdre is survived by her loving son, Chance Ricky Dewight Robins of South Bend, who was by her side as his mom whispered to him “I am going to live and not die!” She is also survived by her sisters, Doreen Johnson of Paterson NJ., Margaret Hall-Fuller of South Bend., brother, Victor Johnson of South Bend, and a great host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She left behind one best friend: Thresa Murray and Goddaughters: Nekya Ellis, Autumn Tate, and Jessica Murray.

Deirdre was a beautiful soul who gave of herself to anyone who needed it.  She attended Passaic High School, The Excel Center, and attended real estate classes in hopes of one day getting her license. She worked as a CNA for many years. She was proud of her time working with the Salvation Army as a bell ringer for a number of years. She volunteered in the community as well. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her son, family and friends. She loved playing bingo and going to karaoke.

Her churches were Broadway Christian Parish Church, New Creation Praise and Worship Center, and Saint James Cathedral.  

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date, please reach out to them for further details.  Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
