Dennis M. Hudak, 74, a lifelong South Bend resident passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Dennis was born on September 2, 1949, in South Bend to the late Eugene and Virginia (Janicki) Hudak. After graduation, Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy as well as the United States Air Force Reserves. Dennis then came home to work in machine repair and maintenance for over 30 years.
Dennis married Janet Trapp on October 5, 1974, sharing just shy of 50 years of marriage. After retirement, they enjoyed taking bus trips around the country. He also enjoyed fishing (“sittin’ on a rock” as he called it); sleeping on Bears games; watching classic, clunky horror, and James Bond movies; and boxing the grandkids’ ears (play wrestling).
Dennis is survived by his wife, Janet Hudak, his children; Jessica (Dave Meuleman) Hudak and Kyle Hudak, grandchildren; Cohen and Phoebe Hudak, and his siblings; Fran (Mike) Kidman of Cassopolis, MI, Chris (Ron) Toth of Elkhart, and Rick (Debbie) Hudak of Granger.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene and Virginia Hudak.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dennis on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12:30pm - 3:30pm at the American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St., South Bend, IN 46619. Dennis will be interred at Southlawn Cemetery at a later date, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN is assisting the family.
