Dennis Lee Meixel, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 79. He was born on October 19, 1946, in Mishawaka, Indiana, and lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and thoughtfulness. Dennis died of natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, devotion to family, and a warm presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dennis was a lifelong resident of the Mishawaka area and carried with him a deep connection to the community and the people around him. He attended nursing school and went on to build a meaningful career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Dennis retired in 2011 after 30 years of dedicated service in the nursing profession. His work reflected the same compassion and care that defined so much of his life, and he was respected for the steady, dependable way he cared for others.
Outside of his career, Dennis found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life. He loved Donald Duck and had a playful appreciation for the character that brought him happiness over the years. He also enjoyed working in the yard, where he could spend time outdoors and take pride in caring for his surroundings. Racing was another source of enjoyment for him, and he especially liked NASCAR races and the excitement of the Indy 500. These interests brought him happiness and reflected his appreciation for both relaxation and the thrill of competition.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Meixel; his son, Guy Meixel;his sister, Jean Bevis; and his brothers, Robert Meixel and Gary Meixel. Their memories remained an important part of his life, and he carried their love with him always. He was also shaped by the bonds of family that remained strong throughout his life, and he treasured the connections that gave him comfort and joy.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Amy (John Scheiber) Meixel, Ashley Meixel, and Christine Meixel. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Emily, Kiara, Guy, Dakota, Oaklynn, Lily, Milan, Grace, Ophelia. Dennis took great pride in his family, and his love for them was evident in the care, interest, and affection he showed throughout the years. His family will remember him for his gentle spirit, his creativity, and the thoughtful way he moved through life.
Those who knew Dennis will remember a man who was kind in his words, creative in his outlook, and thoughtful in his actions. He had a calm and caring nature that made others feel at ease, and he left a lasting impression through his sincerity and warmth. His life was one of service, love, and simple joys, and he will be remembered with gratitude and affection by all whose lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the care he gave, and the many ways he brought comfort and happiness to those around him.
Per his request, no services will take place. Cremation will take place and burial will follow at 1:00pm, Friday, April 10,at Fairview Cemetery.
