Dennis "Denny" F. O'Connor

Dennis “Denny” known by friends as “Oaky”  F. O’Connor, 74, of North Liberty, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Born on August 10, 1951, in LaPorte, Indiana, Denny was the son of the late Lawrence and Leona (Mounce) O’Connor. He spent his life devoted to his family, his work, and the community he called home.

On August 19, 1995, Denny married the love of his life, Sherry (Lewis) O’Connor, in North Liberty. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and dedication. Denny worked in production in the aluminum extrusion industry for many years, spending 41 years with Wells Aluminum/Hydro. Following his retirement, he continued working for O’Connor Delivery Service for 9 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry O’Connor; his children, Kandie O’Connor of North Liberty, Katrina O’Connor of Walkerton, Daniel O’Connor of North Liberty, David O’Connor of North Liberty, and Andy (Samantha) O’Connor of Plymouth. He was also a proud grandfather to Ethan, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Ashlie, Amber, Chloe, Kaylee, and Evan, and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Denny is also survived by his sister, Vickie Shafer of Franklin, Indiana; his brothers, Tim (Andrea) O’Connor of The Villages, Florida, and Jeff (Tracy) O’Connor of North Liberty; as well as a host of cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Anthony O’Connor.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 1 p.m., at Palmer Funeral Home – North Liberty Chapel, 202 N. Main St., North Liberty, IN 46554. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at West Lawn Cemetery, 29645 Pierce Rd, North Liberty, IN 46554.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Denny’s honor may be given to Palmer Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, to help the family with funeral expenses.
