Derek Joseph Morris

Derek Joseph Morris, 28, residing in Mishawaka, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born on September 27, 1989 in Mishawaka, IN, to Raymond G. Morris, Jr., and Rachelle Morris.

Derek is survived by his mother, Rachelle Morris of Mishawaka; father, Raymond (Ann) Morris, Jr., of Columbia City, IN; brother, Drew (Beth Gentry) Morris of Mishawaka; Beth’s son, Carter; maternal grandmother, Rita Pate of Osceola, IN; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Delores Morris, Sr., of South Bend, IN; girlfriend, Erica Boyer of Mishawaka, and her children, Lylee-Anah Boyer, Brody Nagy, and Ryker Boyer; aunt, Cindy (Tony) Winkel of South Bend; uncle, Mark (Donna) Pate of Granger, IN; cousins, Nicole Winkel, Taylor Winkel, Kailey Pate, Allyssa Pate, Reganne Pate and Joey Pate; and second-cousin, Rylen Winkel. Derek was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert J. Pate, and his great-grandparents.

Derek was employed as a carpenter at Kokosing Construction Company. He loved God and attended Granger Community Church. Derek deeply loved his family and close friends. He had a passion for bodybuilding, dirt bikes, and watching supercross with his buddies. He also loved his fur baby, Cali.

Funeral services for Derek will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Kimberly Ann Bonds will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 18 as well as from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday prior to services at the funeral home.
