Diane Barrett Obituary

Diane LaVern Barrett, 81, of Plymouth passed away on Thursday July 2, 2026, at Southfield Village in South Bend.

Diane was born in San Diego, CA on March 13, 1945, to the late Alan and Harriet (Wildt) Barrett.  Diane is survived by her siblings; Joy (Wyatt) Smith, Dale (Beverly) Barrett, and Dennis (Lynn) Barrett.  Many nieces and nephews and close friends also survive.  Diane was preceded in death by her parents.

Diane worked primarily in education, loving and caring for children throughout her career with many Christian schools.  She taught music and physical education and was a classroom teacher for elementary ages.

Diane’s first love was her Savior, Jesus.  She committed her life to knowing Him, serving Him and sharing His message of truth and grace.   And she modeled and shared that message with everyone that came into her life, even for a short time.

Diane loved people.  She dearly loved her family and friends and she invested her time in cultivating relationships that spanned the years.

Diane loved laughter.  From entertaining children with her funny stories and antics to sharing endless jokes to “Happy Birthday” songs with various theatrics, Diane’s joy in life was evident….and it was contagious.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.”  Psalm 116:15 NIV
