Dolores Lucille (Ward) Call

Dolores Lucille Call passed away peacefully at the age of 94, Thursday September 23, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Granger. She was born October 9, 1926, in South Bend to the late Donald L. and Harriet (Deka) Ward. On October 8, 1949, in South Bend, Dolores married the love of her life, Robert R. Call, who passed away in 1992.

Dolores was a lifelong resident of Michiana. She graduated from Central High School in 1944. Dolores was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and of the Daughter’s of Isabella. She enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles. She loved a good Birthday party and sweet treats. “Cille’s” great grandchildren brought her so much joy. Playing hide and seek with them kept her young at heart.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Bud) Shidaker of Granger, and Susan Call of South Bend; her son, John Call of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Erin Shidaker-Beltran of South Bend, Brady Call of Denver, CO, Abigail (Matt) Gustin of Valparaiso, IN, and Shane Shidaker of Vancouver, WA. Dolores is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Ruby, Leo, and Vivian. Along with her parents and loving husband, Robert, Dolores is preceded in death by her siblings, Eleanor Kolacz, Norma Czerna, and Carl Ward.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber St., South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may call on the family from 10:00-11:00am at the church.
