Dolores Maxine Housewerth was born on December 5, 1920, in Wyatt, Indiana to Clarence Fox and Alice (Schrader) Fox. She passed away on February 6, 2023, in South Bend.
On June 21, 1941, she married the love of her life, Harold Housewerth at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodland, Indiana. They were married for 67 years. She was preceded by three siblings, Clarence Fox Jr., Duane Fox and Mildred Unrue (Fox).
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Housewerth and her husband, Ingemar Kinnmark of Nyack, New York and nephew, Dennis Unrue and his wife, Barbara of Bremen, Indiana.
She graduated from Madison High School in 1938 and earned a secretarial degree from the South Bend College of Commerce. During World War II, she worked in the Navy Department in Washington, DC. She retired from Reith Riley Construction Company in 1986 after working there for 38 years. She enjoyed bridge, theater, gardening, and travel which included all fifty states with her husband. She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in South Bend, an officer in Women in Construction and Business and Professional Women. She was a 75-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Valley Chapter #594, (now St. Joseph #569), Amaranth Court #11, and was a Royal Matron and Grand Royal Matron of the Grand Court of Indiana. She was a lifetime member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a member of White Shrine #31 as well as President of Beauceant, Elkhart #129.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. by members of St. Joseph Chapter #569 O.E.S., with a service to follow, led by Rev. Scott Bowie. Graveside services and burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dolores Housewerth may be offered to The Center for Hospice Care, Inc., 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
