Donald James Martin, 78, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, in South Bend, Indiana. He was born on January 12, 1947, to the late James Oliver and Betty Jane (Poland) Martin.
Don graduated from Ligonier High School in 1965. He studied engineering at Tri-State College and completed his bachelor’s degree at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.
On May 3, 1974, Don married Deanne Floyd at Central Assembly in Boise, Idaho.
Don worked in the RV Industry for more than 40 years as a CAD Engineer. He was a retired licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and active in many of the area churches. He also had a ministry at the Juvenile Justice Center and Southfield Village Retirement Community in South Bend, IN.
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deanne; their daughter, Sarah Whitworth of Fishers, IN and their son, Casey (Erin) Martin of South Bend, IN; his grandchildren, Ian-Michael Whitworth, Audrey Martin, Isaac Whitworth, Lucas Martin and Isabella Whitworth; brother; Robb (Paula) Martin of Uniontown, OH and sister; Janice Martin of Avon, IN. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family Friday, December 5, 2025, at the funeral home from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and also Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
