SOUTH BEND -   Donald E. Brennan, 88, died peacefully in the presence of his family on October 9, 2015 after an eight year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was the loving Father of D. Scott [Robin] Brennan and Debbie [Alan] Johnson, both of South Bend. He was proud of his five grandchildren; Katie [Blake] Reiter of Lebanon, IN, Annie Brennan of Chicago, Shane [Katie] Johnson of Fishers, IN, Brian Johnson of South Bend, and Jenna [Matthew] Bishop of Huntington Beach, CA.

Don had three great grandchildren; Rex and Kane Reiter of Lebanon and Claire Johnson of Fishers. He is survived by his brother, Charles E. [Debbie] Brennan of Bahama, NC; and a special nephew, John Biltz, of West Allis, WI.

Don was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Clara R. [Becky] Brennan and his beautiful sister, Marjorie M. [George] Biltz of Milwaukee.

He was very proud of his late Father, Ted Brennan, who served as a police officer and an FOP President. His late Mother, Florence, was a homemaker. The couple moved here in the 1920's from Chicago.

Don was a proud graduate of Mishawaka High School [Class of 1945] and Indiana University-Bloomington [Class of 1951.] He was initiated into Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He served proudly in the United States Navy and was in uniform and on board his beloved ship, the USS Hornet [CV12], on V-J Day.

Don had a long career in the life insurance business and recruited scores of men into the profession. Don served as President of The Northern Indiana Society of Chartered Life Underwriters and wrote hundreds of millions of dollars of life insurance and delivered hundreds of death claims to widows and surviving business partners. He was a fifty plus year member of the National Association of Life Underwriters and a longtime member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was the proud father of the 87th President of MDRT.  Don was a fifty plus year member of the Mishawaka Kiwanis Club and a fifty plus year member of BPOE 235.

He loved the music of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Stan Kenton. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Many thanks to Senior Helpers [Joy and Mary Beth], Heritage Point Alzheimer's Special Care Center [Kayla, Emil, Janine and Sue] and the thoughtful and loving people at St. Michael's and All Angels.
